What IE9 Settings Are Required For SitePal?

I recently reset my IE 9 Browser to its default settings. SitePal no longer works in IE 9 (although it works fine in Google Chrome). What settings need to be set within IE 9 for SitePal to work?
ie 9 ie9 internet explorer 9

Answer

I've solved my problem and will share what I've learned. To get SitePal working in IE9 again I had to take the following steps:

- Open the Internet Options Dialog and select the Programs tab.
- Click the Manage add-ons button
- At this point Flash WILL NOT show up in the list of add-ons.
- Use the combo box in the lower left of the Add On Manager to select "All add-ons"
- Now you'll see "Shockwave Flash Object" make sure it is enabled.

Close the Add On Manager and SitePal will work fine.

Sorry you experienced a problem & glad the solution was found.

Flash is in fact enabled by default on IE9 - so it should not have been necessary to do anything to get SitePal to work. Not sure why this happened...
Has anyone else encountered IE9 not supporting Flash?

Hey Gil,

After upgrading to the latest Flash (11.4.402.265 ).
I began experiencing BEX crashes when navigating in IE9

Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: BEX
Application Name: iexplore.exe

Application Timestamp: 4fecf1b7

I was able to solve the problem by disabling Flash within the Add On Manager. However this of course also caused SitePal to stop working. So I was only able to get SitePal working again by re-enabling the Flash Add-on as outlined above.

However this caused the BEX crashes to return. I'm not sure how to solve this, but it appears to be a Flash / IE9 issue. I've researched this, but still haven't found a way to solve it. If I do I'll report back

Thanks for the info
I found this thread on the Adobe message boards -

Apparently this is an ongoing problem for many people that began 3 days ago - probably due to an update to the Flash player. It would seem like Adobe is still trying to get their facts straight.
Their engineer is trying to work out the exact combination of software versions that would cause this to happen - as it is not so easy to recreate.

For the moment I would suggest downgrading your flash player version.
Hope this helps
Gil
Thanks Gil,

I downgraded to Flash 10.3 and all problems have disappeared.

Glad to hear it.
Apparently Adobe have now isolated the problem - it only happens to a small subset of IE9 users - which is why they had not known about it.
For those users they recommend downgrading to the previous verstion of Flash.

I expect that this will be fixed with the next Flash update.

Gil
