SitePal Downtime?

Jazon Samillano 13 years ago updated by Gil Sideman 7 years ago 11
Hello SitePal Team. From 12:30am to 12:40am PST, my SitePal scenes take between 30 to 45 seconds to load! There's nothing wrong with my Internet connection because all other sites load super fast. I notice this as a daily occurrence, and it seems to happen at the same time every day. It's happening now as I type this post. Is this an expected SitePal downtime? If not, is there something wrong with my account? Thanks for your help.
Jazon,
This is curious and not expected behavior. It might be a one time anomaly, or it may be related to nightly maintenance tasks on our servers that take place at that hour. We will look into it - will advise further when I have more info.
Please let us know if you notice this problem again.
Regards,
Gil
Hi Gil. It's currently 12:37 AM PST, and the problem is taking place as I write this. The scenes take about 30 to 45 seconds to load. Some scenes do not load at all. My biggest issue is that my company is an international business, and a lot of our website visitors come from Asia. It's afternoon time in Asia right now. If you can confirm this scheduled daily downtime, I would really appreciate it. Otherwise, maybe there's something wrong with my account. Thanks, Gil.
It's now 12:45 AM PST, and my scenes are loading quickly again. So it really does look like a scheduled down time. It's a very long down time. To see the issue, you can go to my website (www.xmarter.com) on any day between 12:30 and 12:45 AM PST. Thanks again.
Jazon -
Thanks for following up with additional information.
To be clear - this is not "scheduled downtime" - but seems to be an unintended disruption that may be the result of scheduled nightly maintenance.

We are looking into this to confirm and hopefully resolve asap. I will advise when we know more - please allow several days.

Jazon - do you normally update the Scene in the 24 hour period prior to seeing this problem at 00:30 PST?
do you ever see this problem on a day on which the Scene has not been updated?

By "updated" I mean, change to audio or change to character or any other attribute of the Scene.
please let me know, thanx
Gil
Hi Gil. I create a new scene everyday. I notice, however, that the problem occurs on all scenes, not on any particular scene.
It's 12:33 AM PST, and the problem is happening right now as expected.
Jazon -
We concluded our internal review.
The 3:30 AM EST service disruption is due to an Oddcast internal "housekeeping" process that runs at that time.

Our findings are that the disruption -
a. lasts up to 15 min.
b. only affects Scenes that were updated within the past 24 hours.

We also noticed that the problem is not consistent - meaning that some nights it is not noticeable.

We are implementing today a quick optimization that should reduce the period of disruption by about 20%. This will be in place by end of day.
We will be working over the next 2 to 3 weeks to update our procedures and eliminate this problem altogether.

Thank you for reporting the problem and for your patience.
Regards

We have optimized our nightly maintenance process - and believe that process no longer has any noticeable effect.

Please let me know if you still see any anomaly at 00:30 PST.

I know that this tread is too old, but now I have the same issue that described in start post. You can check it by visiting my website www.SEOconsult.ca, and check loading time.

Hi Dmitry -

I reviewed your site and I did not see a SitePal character.

On which page is it - and what exactly is the problem?

Please explain in more detail - thanks!
