How do I get the text to speak avatar to pause a little between sentences?

You can use what's called "SSML tags" in the text to achieve this and many other effects.
Check out the appendix "Using SSML tags" in our developers API Reference. Note: This does not require programming!

Note: Nuance voices do not support SSML. If you are using a Nuance voice (see the voice table in the API Reference ) - you may want to try using a comma, period, or other punctuation marks.
