SitePal not working on Windows Server

Michael Flynn 13 years ago updated 13 years ago 18
Would there be a reason why SitePal avatars wouldn't work on Windows Server 2008 or 2003 on any browser, but would work on client machines?
Answer
Gil 13 years ago
Michael -
That's correct - if the computer has no sound, the SitePal avatar should load but cannot speak.
The attempt to speak will not complete. "talkended" callback will not be reached. "progress" callback will be called but will stay at zero.

if you wanted to you could detect this situation by monitoring the "progress" callback - if it continuously returns zero values - that is likely due to no audio support.

btw - this situation is extremely rare - web applications are not often run on computers without audio support.

Hope this helps,
Gil

Can I embed SitePal in a Wiki?

faq embed html
Answer

Publishing SitePal scenes requires the user to be able to add or edit HTML code to a web page. Many wikis don’t allow this level of access. If you can edit or add HTML code, you can embed a SitePal scene!

Highlightening of the text which are being read by TTS

Winstone Choi 11 years ago updated by Gil 11 years ago 1
The other day, I made a question on Highlight functionality and you gave me an answer. But your answer just led me to "scrolling functionality." What I want is not scrolling, but highlightening of the text which are being read by the TTS. Please see the link site for your reference.

http://www.webtalks.co.kr/front/front...

If you click the speaker icon shown on the left upper corner, the texts will be highlighted while TTS read them.

If your TTS can privide this funtionality, please kindly let me know how to implement on our webpage.

Thanks,

Publishing to Facebook now that thee is no longer FBML

Becky Bear 13 years ago updated 13 years ago 2
It is my understanding that Facebook has ceased to support FBML. Do you have instructions for posting to FB without FBML. Are there tab creation programs (such as pagemodo) that can be used?
Answer
Akhil 13 years ago
Hi Becky,

I assume you are referring to embedding a scene in tab instead of posting it on the profile wall.

The FBML has been deprecated and from June 1, 2012, FBML will no longer be supported on FB. But facebook is still supporting JS, html and CSS, you can use FB's JavaScript SDK and other plugins they may have available to integrate the scene in a tab. We will be working on creating an example for this soon.

Export all Publish codes at once

genxgirl144 13 years ago updated by Gil 13 years ago 1
Can I export all of my scene publish codes at one time or do I have to click one by one?
Answer
Gil 13 years ago
I'm afraid you need to go through them one by one.
Is this a one time thing or do you need to publish multiple scenes often?

Because if you do - you may want to consider automating - you could do so with the Server API (available to Platinum )

How to add 3D character using AS2?

Melvin Williams 14 years ago updated by Gil 14 years ago 1
Feedback from my webmaster-

AS3 and AS2 are the two different levels of Actionscript that are available. Your Flash site is encoded with AS2. I am using Dreamweaver, but that would have nothing to do with this problem. As you see when you go to your Contact page on your site you will see the Site Pal logo and the preloader just spinning. It does that same thing if you login to your Site Pal account and go to the Scene and click on 'Publish' and then in the panel on the right, set it to AS2 and then click 'Preview' and it just does the exact same thing. SO, it seams it's a problem with Sitepal.

eBay publishing questions.

dforce1 14 years ago updated by Gil 14 years ago 1
When I publish to eBay, is there a way to control the time at which the message begins and at how long charactor stays before it disappears. I want the customer to start reading a little once on site before character appears an for the character to leave once the voice message is finished. When I publish to eBay it never asks these set up questions. What can I do.

Hi -
Unfortunately ebay does not allow JavaScript in their pages, which limits what we can do to allow you to control the character in the auction page. Therefore it is not possible to implement a "delayed appearance" of the character.

What you can do - is use the Scene Settings to turn off "playback on load" and have the character speak only when clicked. That will work. I would also suggest using one of our "YouTube like" players to encourage folks to click on the character.

Hope this helps. Regards
