How can I add controls to avatar to start and stop them

Hi Cynthia,

That's a good question. When you are logged in and editing your SitePal scene (when you are viewing the editor), take a look at Step 5 (Players).

In the Players step, you can choose from dozens of different players, which include controls, such as Play/ Pause, Mute, and Volume level. The players come in many shapes and sizes, but most of them have the same controls.

Note - after selecting the player, you can go to the Display Settings tab (up top) to customize the look of your player. Hope that helps!

Will this work with Articulate?

Robert Lowrey 13 years ago updated by Gil 13 years ago 1
I use Articulate to turn PPT presentations into Flash modules, specifically SCORM 1.2 for LMS. I would like to use this to do the voice overs on our presentations using the text to voice feature.

Any suggestions?

PowerPoint with Dynamic Content

Eric Johannsen 12 years ago updated by Gil 12 years ago 3
We are considering using SitePal to have the website read reviews that our customers are particularly interested in, from a selection of around 250,000 reviews. A very small number of the reviews will actually ever be read.

We wish to add a feature to export a small number of reviews to PowerPoint. It seems this is easy to do for static scenes

http://community.sitepal.com/sitepal/...

However, that approach requires the No Javascript publishing option. If we had static scenes, we would use Office automation to generate the powerpoint file using the basic approach outlined in that link.

Is there an option to embed a scene with dynamic text (specified using JavaScript) into Powerpoint?

If not, is there an API we could use to programatically create a static scene for embedding once the user selects the actual text they wish to have spoken?

my website is non-profit and no-ads, i wish it was not required to advertise your wonderful product on my website unless one orders the highest-cost packages

hello

you appear to have a fun and useful service. there is one thing however, in that i do not care to have the sitepal logo on my website. i understand you have to make money like anyone else and think it is certainly appropriate to have the logo displayed if it was free, or even the first level package, but for silver and up when the customer is paying for the service i do not see the need to advertise your company. on my website, if anyone is going to be advertised it is going to be MY product. i have a non-profit, no-ad website and i would like to keep it this way without having to go the the highest-cost packages. just my opinion.

powerpoint error message - activex component can't create object

martha 14 years ago updated by Gil 14 years ago 3
I have placed site pal in my web site and in powerpoint presentations, however now I get this error when I try to insert the plug-in - powerpoint activex component can't create object, I am using the same computer. What should I do?

Martha -
Our QA tried to reproduce the problem on multiple different environments & settings per your description - but were unsuccessful.

While we don’t know what the exact problem is we suspect that reinstalling the wizard or Office would be the easiest options to clear any damaged files. Also on Microsoft’s support page its mentioned that corrupted registry can cause a similar issue, so re-installing Office or the wizard should be the first thing to try.

Hope this helps,

Loading external swfs for Adobe AIR 3.7 running on IOS

Adam Odessky 12 years ago updated 12 years ago 2
Hi guys,

Air 3.7 is coming out and has some ability to load external swfs for rendering on ios. http://labsdownload.adobe.com/pub/lab...

Having played with Sitepal for quite a bit, I know that it currently requires an external swf to be loaded at run time in order to dynamically execute speak methods. As you probably know ios does not allow external ABC (AS3 Byte Code) swfs. With air 3.7 however, it may be possible to compile an external swf and then make a stripped swf available so that it can run on a remote server, like Oddcasts for developers to use with AIR apps. It would be interesting for you to consider supporting such a scheme to bring dynamic avatar execution to ios without changing much on your end (I hope!).

If this is possible and if you're interesting in doing this, I'd love to experiment with you guys and be your guinea pig.

Best,
Adam
